A trellis designed for your wall, not the other way round
Made to measure takes over as soon as none of the four standard sizes fits your space: a narrow wall between two windows, a niche, a corner, or simply a wish for a denser or more open pattern than the catalogue model. The workshop takes your exact dimensions before drawing the trellis.
Choosing a trellis by climbing species
Not every climbing plant puts the same load on a trellis: a light clematis and a mature wisteria don't need the same iron section or the same number of fixing points.
| Species | Load to plan for | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Clematis | Light | A standard trellis is enough, base wall clearance |
| Climbing rose | Medium | Reinforced fixing recommended beyond 2 m in height |
| Virginia creeper | Medium to heavy | Good natural grip, weight well spread across the pattern |
| Wisteria | Heavy | Reinforced structure and fixing essential, plan for it at order stage |
Load estimated for a mature specimen, without excessive pruning. See the fixing guide by support type for recommended clearance and spacing based on your wall.
The pattern, an aesthetic choice as much as a technical one
A tight diamond pattern offers more grip points for a young plant, at the cost of a visually denser effect. A more open pattern shows more of the wall and suits a trompe-l'œil effect, or a plant that's already well established and no longer needs as much guidance.
Lead time and price
Made to measure takes more forging time than a standard size — expect a longer lead time, stated precisely in the quote. See the full price breakdown for a first estimate based on area.
